Ban Houayxai gold-silver project (Laos)

Client: PanAust Limited

AMEC Minproc is carrying out detailed engineering and procurement services for this 4Mt/a gold-silver project in Laos. This award follows the successful completion of the definitive feasibility study by AMEC Minproc’s Brisbane office early in 2010, and PanAust board approval for full development of the Ban Houayxai mineral resource. The Ban Houayxai project is targeting commissioning completion by December 2011, with steady state gold production expected in March of 2012.

Karara iron ore project (Western Australia)

Client: Gindalblie Metals

Early in 2010, AMEC Minproc was awarded a construction management services contract for the Karara project in Western Australia. AMEC Minproc is working as part of an integrated project management team to manage construction of the Karara magnetite concentrator and associated processing plant facilities.

The project will initially produce 10Mt/a of iron products commencing in 2011, comprising 8Mt/a of high-grade magnetite concentrate, a value-added product, and 2Mt/a of Direct Shipping Ore (DSO). 

Sino Iron project (Western Australia)

Client: CITIC PACIFIC Mining / MCC

In 2008, AMEC Minproc was awarded an engineering contract for the Sino Iron Ore Project in Western Australia.

The $5.2 billion project at Cape Preston in the State’s Pilbara is being developed by Citic Pacific Mining with equity participation by China Metallurgical Corporation Group (MCC). MCC Mining (Western Australia) Pty Ltd is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and has engaged AMEC Minproc to manage, in conjunction with Chinese design institute NETC, the engineering services for the processing facility for the 84 Mt/a magnetite operation.

Lancashire Waste Partnership Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project (United Kingdom)

Thornton site photo July 2008AMEC Minproc, in joint venture with Bovis Lend Lease, finalised the proposal and pricing for the Lancashire Waste Project, enabling commercial and financial close of the project to be achieved in early 2007.

The joint venture undertaking the construction of the Lancashire Waste Project is the 'Waste 2 Resources - Project Lancashire Limited Liability Partnership (W2R)' with a 50:50 ownership between AMEC Minproc and Bovis Lend Lease.

Work is currently underway on two UR-3R™ facilities and associated infrastructure at two sites in Lancashire - Leyland and Thornton. A W2R project office was established in Preston, close to the Leyland site. In addition, a project office was also set-up to house the Perth-based design team.
