Harnessing the skills and talents of its people, AMEC Minproc has established a dedicated Coal Engineering and Project Management Group operating out of the company’s Brisbane office.
The Coal Group is comprised of approximately 25 personnel all whom have extensive experience in the coal industry. This team is strategically located to support the east coast coal sector, whilst retaining the ability to service the industry globally from this centre of excellence.
To further enhance its coal capability, in 2009 GRD signed a cooperation agreement with Elgin National Industries (ENI). AMEC Minproc's Coal Group is actively involved with ENI’s subsidiary Roberts & Schaefer (R&S), who is a leader in expertise and innovative solutions in bulk material handling and coal processing.
Both companies make a formidable team with the Coal Group adding to AMEC Minproc’s world class precious and base metals experience gained over the last 30 years, while R&S is internationally recognised for its coal experience.
Our Services
AMEC Minproc’s Coal Group provides a range of engineering services to the coal mining industry from metallurgical and engineering audits of existing plants and feasibilities studies, through to construction, commissioning and operations support.
More specifically, the services provided by the Coal Group are outlined below.
- Detailed engineering design of coal handling and coal preparation plants involving process, layout, mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, instrumentation and piping.
- Delivery of sustaining capital projects including plant upgrade engineering, construction management and commissioning.
- Construction and commissioning of coal handling and coal preparation plants, and related infrastructure works.
- Fine coal process design and optimisation.
- Strategic reviews / technical audits.
- Studies (scoping, prefeasibility and definitive feasibility) including capital and operating cost estimation.
- CHPP maintenance, shutdowns and minor capital works.
