AMEC Minproc's senior management team combines extensive engineering and construction industry experience with wider industry management experience. This creates a company culture with a strong business focus supported by leading technical, project delivery and operational management skills. The experienced team provides the basis for a sustainable business delivering outstanding project results for clients.
Malcolm Brown - President
Malcolm Brown is a qualified engineer, with over 25 years experience in project development, primarily associated with the resource sector. He has worked in both the design and project management fields and in a number of overseas locations during his career. Malcolm was appointed president in June 2008, responsible for all AMEC Minproc's activities, including those of its subsidiary Kirfield Limited.
Before this appointment, Malcolm held the position of chief operating officer for all GRD companies and prior to that, he was the director of project delivery for GRD's subsidiary Global Renewables, responsible for all new projects undertaken by the company. Malcolm has extensive experience in managing the development of complex technical facilities.
Stuart Ratcliffe – General Manager Development
Stuart is an experienced minerals processing engineer with a diverse career spanning more than 30 years in the mining industry covering operations, research and development, design, commissioning, business development and marketing. Originally working in the UK coal industry, Stuart relocated to Australia in the early 1980s and has since been involved in a wide range of mineral commodities and projects. In recent years he has specialised in the area of business development and marketing of engineering services, and project management for the minerals industry, and has held senior roles with a number of major engineering organisations.
At AMEC Minproc, Stuart is responsible for the coordination of business development activities across the Australian and African offices, and interaction with the global Mining & Metals offices of its parent company AMEC.
Jamil Awaida - Group Manager Commercial & Risk
Jamil has more than 15 years international and commercial managerial experience. Prior to joining AMEC Minproc, he held senior Commercial and Financial Management roles on large scale construction and engineering projects throughout Australia, Africa and Greece working closely with multi-national Joint Venture partners, Funding Agencies and Major Clients. Jamil has extensive experience in international contracts negotiation, structuring and management by driving corporate strategies and mitigating risks to deliver value.
Jamil is a member of CPA Australia, a senior associate of FINSIA Australia (SA Fin), a member of the Australian Institute of Management (AIMM), a fellow member of the Taxation Institute of Australia (FTIA); he holds a bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting from St Joseph University, Lebanon and an MBA from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia.
Cynthia Ferrer – Regional HR Manager, Australia & SE Asia
Cynthia has more than 15 years experience in Human Resources Management within the EPCM international environments.
Cynthia joined AMEC in 2004 as HR Manager for AMEC Philippines, where she contributed largely to the 9-year success of the Shell Malampaya PHC Project, and was commended for her work on the development and implementation of AMEC Philippines’ Shutdown Strategy in 2006. She also then provided overarching direction for AMEC Philippines’ HR service extension to Clough AMEC Bayu Undan Project (Darwin, Australia), and was the HR focal point for the KNOC Project in Korea (2005).
In her current role, Cynthia is tasked to provide overall governance of the HR function for AMEC in Australia and SE Asia, in Mining and Oil & Gas.
Peter Kelsall - General Manager Waste-to-Resources
Peter has over 18 years experience working in the minerals processing, and oil and gas sectors. Prior to joining AMEC Minproc, Peter held senior maintenance and engineering management roles throughout Australia, with both client and contractor organisations. He has extensive experience in the design, implementation and improvement of asset management strategies, including innovative approaches to contracts and contract performance.
Peter is a qualified engineer, holding a Bachelor of Engineering and specialising in maintenance, engineering and project management. Peter is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a member of the Maintenance Engineers Society of Australia.
Stuart Gibson - General Manager Perth
Stuart Gibson is the General Manager of the Western Australian office of AMEC Minproc, where he is responsible for the successful operation of its core business of providing clients with innovative solutions throughout the mining value chain.
Stuart is an industry recognised expert in asset management, both in Australia and in the Americas. He was formerly a director of the Asset Management Council, on the advisory board of the Maintenance Engineering Society of Australia, and a former partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He currently serves on a number of other Boards.
In addition to asset management, Stuart has significant experience in operational excellence and process improvement, as well as change, finance and people management. His key responsibility is to ensure we deliver on every commitment we make.
Colin Kubank - Managing Director, Africa
Colin is a qualified metallurgist with more than 30 years experience in the design, development and operation of mineral processing projects, covering gold, uranium, nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum and mineral sands within Australia, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Prior to his appointment as Managing Director, Colin held the position of Technical Director and was responsible for managing the Intellectual Property aspects of AMEC Minproc’s African office.
Colin is a fellow of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy of which he is also a Chartered Professional Engineer.
Chris Medway - General Manager, Brazil
Chris is a qualified mining engineer with over 30 years experience working in the resources sector in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Africa and Brazil. Chris was promoted to Managing Director Brazil early in 2007 following more than two years with AMEC Minproc in the capacity of Senior Study Manager in Perth.
Chris has executive management, operational management and practical operational experience in base metal, uranium, gold, and iron ore operations. He has worked in all phases of project development from exploration, feasibility development, construction, commissioning, operations and project closure.
Prior to joining AMEC Minproc, Chris worked for a number of Australian and international mining companies. He holds a Mine Managers certificate and has held the position of Registered Mine Manager in a number of Australian operations.
